An Evening of Debbie Friedman Songs Performed by Arielle Kaplan

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, the TBA and greater Nashua community came together to bring in Havdalah over appetizers and desserts and listened to Arielle Kaplan sing Debbie Friedman songs. The evening was truly lovely, inspirational and soulful. We had a special treat when Arielle invited her father, Dr. Alan Kaplan up to sing with her. Arielle sang and played the guitar beautifully for us and we joined in with her when the moment struck us!

Arielle Kaplan has been singing both theatrical and sacred music for most of her life. With a degree in musical theater from Brandeis University and having trained as a songleader beginning at URJ Eisner Camp in the Berkshires, these two styles of music have been constant parallels through her life. She has been a cantorial soloist since 2007, working with synagogues and Jewish communities all over New England adding music to their simchas. Her love of Jewish music and Broadway came together in 2020 and later, 2021 when she had the honor to originate the role of Miriam in the musical of the same name, written by Debbie Friedman, Dr. Alan Kaplan, and Tom Anastasi.

This program was supported by the Benjamin Freedman Fund for Cultural Enrichment.
