Vision & Mission

Vision:

A community to help you create a life of purpose, joy and peace, guided by Jewish values and heritage.

Mission:

We are your partner and together we create our diverse and inclusive Jewish community. We offer opportunities to connect with people, to experience Jewish ritual, to learn, and to serve. We provide resources you can explore on your own and with others. We represent and advocate for Jews, Judaism, and Israel in our wider world.

 Principles:

Live Jewish Values Meaningfully – Arachim and Middot (ערכים ומידות)

We live better lives the more we are aligned with our values. Jewish value-concepts and ethical practices frame life differently from the utilitarian and individualist language of American culture. Jewish teachings and stories help us understand the challenges and rewards of living an ethical life.

Celebrate and Observe Through Ritual, Heritage and Tradition – Masoret (מסורת)

Experiencing Shabbat, Jewish holy days, life’s milestones and every day can be spiritual, soulful and joyous. Ritual allows us to step away from the busy-ness of daily life to recharge and redirect. Traditions bring us together for joy and comfort and help us to cultivate individual gratitude and mindfulness. We learn to create our own sacred times, for ourselves and our families, by exploring the practices and templates from our tradition.

Explore Our Stories, Texts and Language – Limud Torah (לימוד תורה)

We examine current events and our life experiences through a Jewish lens. We learn how to approach Torah, Hebrew language, Jewish history and spirituality with skills, curiosity and contemplation. We value formal and informal learning for all ages in any location – in our building, in our homes, online, anywhere we work and gather.

Act to Repair the World  – Tzedek and Tikkun Olam (צדק ותיקון עולם)

Each of us has specific gifts to discover and develop for making the world more caring and just. We believe all people everywhere are created in the Divine image (B’tzelem Elohim) and are connected to one another. Beth Abraham cultivates relationships with many particular organizations that harness our time and energy and magnify our impact. We volunteer, learn, and advocate for the causes we choose on our own or together as a group.

Stand With the Jewish People and the State of Israel  (עם וארץ ישראל)

We are the local ambassadors and advocates of the Jewish people worldwide, helping people around us understand Judaism, Jewish living, anti-Semitism, the Shoah (Holocaust), and Israel. We contribute to our Nashua-area community as one of its many cultures. As American Jews we play a crucial role in supporting Israel’s right to exist, nurturing relationships with people in Israel, and strengthening  groups in Israel whose work and principles inspire us.
