Artificial Intelligence, Friend or Foe, Exploring the Benefits and Challenges of AI Technology, will be the topic discussed by Jim Isaak on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 9:30 AM, LIVE IN PERSON at Temple Beth Abraham, 4 Raymond Street, Nashua.  The Southern New Hampshire Jewish Men’s Club is proud to sponsor this presentation and breakfast.

The current fad in AI is known as generative AI.  Although generative AI confabulates responses it nevertheless passes the Turring test. Improvements are constantly being made to this technology.  The near-term risks of AI technology are human abuse to misinform and manipulate the public.  It is not currently clear when we might see the emergence of Artificial General Intelligence, which can perform non-physical tasks at least as well as a person.

Join us as Jim examines how we got here, and what it means for the next year or two as the scope and reach of the Internet continues to grow and influence our lives.  

Jim Isaak began his career over 30 years ago after earning a BS in Computer Studies and a MSEE in Computer Engineering from Stanford University.  The holder of a US Patent for his “Method for Certifying the authenticity of digital objects,” Jim’s work history includes various upper level positions at IBM, Data General Corp and Digital Equipment.  In addition to teaching Information Technology at the collegiate level, Jim has held numerous positions within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers including President of the IEEE Computer Society and Vice President of the IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology.

Jim, a TEDx Speaker,  is uniquely qualified to discuss the impact of Analytics, Social Media and Privacy on our everyday lives.  If you missed Jim’s engaging and highly informative presentation to us in 2020, be sure to mark your calendar for this event, you won’t want to miss it!

This special presentation is open to the public but advance registration is required.  Our kitchen crew will be preparing a sumptuous feast of scrambled eggs, bagels, lox, and whitefish salad with veggies, fruit, orange juice, milk, coffee, and water.

The cost for breakfast is $10 for members in good standing and any of those members guests that may accompany them. 

The cost for breakfast for non-members is $18 at the door.

About The Southern New Hampshire Jewish Men’s Club

The Southern New Hampshire Jewish Men’s Club, founded in 1982 conducts monthly breakfast meetings.
