Eliana Light Shabbaton, October 12 - 14, 2018

Eliana Light is an award winning songwriter and educator who empowers people to make Judaism their own through song, experiential education, and prayer.

She has put out two albums of original Jewish music, A New Light and Eliana Sings (About Jewish Things!), and travels the country providing artist-in-residence weekends, teaching at conferences, and consulting with synagogues to create intentional, meaningful prayer experiences for adults and children alike.

She is also the founder of The G!D Project, an educational initiative focused on accessible, meaningful conversations about G!D and spirituality through ritual, text, and creativity. Eliana received her Masters in Jewish Experiential Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2016, and is based in New York City.

4:45 p.m. - Yedidim Shabbat for Young Families
A joyous Shabbat experience awaits your whole family at TBA this month. Eliana Light will lead us in song and prayer - with a story and craft thrown in for extra Shabbat fun. Dinner provided.

Saturday, October 13

10:00 a.m. - Family Shabbat Morning Service in the Chapel
Eliana Light will lead our school families in the morning service. Come prepared to experience t'fillah with fun and meaning. Eliana will lead a family-friendly study of the Noach story.

12:30 p.m. (approx.) - Lunch and Learn
The idea of a God who destroys the entire world by Flood is theologically problematic today. It was also problematic for the Sages of the Talmud, Midrash, and classic Jewish commentaries. Eliana will engage us in a discussion of the Noach story through the perspective of her G!D Project  which equips people to challenge and expand understandings of the Divine, and to explore issues of belief.

7:00 p.m. - Dessert, Havdalah, and Let the Light Shine Concert
Eliana will entertain and engage us with songs rooted in Jewish texts and holidays, many of her own, and some from other contemporary and traditional Jewish song leaders. This concert is for everyone, young and old! Register here

Sunday, October 14

9:30 a.m. - Guest song leader for Sunday School

12:15 p.m. - Sisterhood Paid Up Luncheon
Eliana Light will give a performance to our Sisterhood members.
