Thanks to a generous $10,000 challenge pledge, an anonymous donor will match contributions to the Capital Improvement Fund between October 1 and December 31, 2021. Your Capital Improvement Fund donation will contribute to needed repairs and improvements to the synagogue, education center, and parking lots.

The Temple is currently developing a list of prioritized maintenance projects. Among the projects that the Capital Improvement Fund will support are the following:

  • Repair the Temple façade. Water damage repair and prevention requires roofing updates, siding replacement, and painting.
  • Carpet the chapel. The 20-year-old floor tiles are buckling; they require removal and replacement with carpeting. We anticipate that this project will begin in October and be completed by mid-November.
  • Repair the Education Center’s entry. This includes repairs to the interior and exterior entry due to water damage.
  • Repair the parking lots. The aging parking lots and sidewalks require crack repair, restriping, and drain cleaning.

These repairs and improvements are necessary to maintain the look and safety of the Temple. They are not part of our operational budget funded through the Annual Financial Commitment. Use of the Capital Improvement Fund means that we will not need to rely on the operational budget for these repairs and improvements. Combined with funds from the second Payroll Protection Program that the Temple received in September, the anonymous donor challenge fund will ensure that the Capital Improvement Fund has sufficient funds for FY22 capital improvements.
